It’s Leap Day!

So, yeah…I haven’t done much this month that I’d say is worth blogging about.

A death in the family

I wasn’t able to get much writing-related stuff done this month, because on January 2 my grandmother broke her hip and had to be hospitalized.

For a while, she seemed to be recovering nicely, but late Saturday night she finally passed away.

At some point in the future, I plan to post a longer and more detailed tribute to her.

Christmas

I just wanted to post that I had a nice Christmas this year.

One week in…

So I’ve started actually writing Daughter of the Stars by now, but due to some unexpected complications I’ve given up on trying to “win” NaNoWriMo this year. That said, for personal reasons, I still hope to have a first draft of this thing done by Christmas.

Update

That “major announcement” I mentioned in my first post is now being postponed indefinitely, as it pertained to a writing project that I’ve since decided to put on the back burner.

That said, I recently decided to participate in National Novel Writing Month this year, and the book I’ll be working on deals with the topic of the displacement of mountain people who’d lived in what is now Shenandoah National Park.
